What is "camera ready" art?

"Camera ready" refers to art and copy that is ready to be transferred to film without any retouching by computer or a graphic designer / artist.

If your copy is not crisp and clean, - with smudges or fuzzy areas - and cannot be resized from a postage stamp size to a billboard size, it is not camera ready.

Art Examples

Do you own camera ready art - where do you get it?
If you have had anything printed before, your
business cards, letterhead, etc., can ask your printer for the files. If you have a logo, you can also request that file from your printer. Remember, you must wait for the printer to send the files they have before your order can be  processed.

Does your artwork have more than one color?
We require only original, native vector, EPS and / or AI files.

We cannot accept art files from the following platforms:

·         BMP

·         Photoshop EPS

·         JPG

·         GIF

·         PICT

·         TIFF

Saving these files in an acceptable format - EPS or AI, does not make them VECTOR.  The files must be created in a programs such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw.

If  your item is to be embroidered then we can use a low quality graphic. Please call us for details.

Following are the files we accept:

.ai (Adobe Illustrator) This is usually* considered good art. All fonts must be converted to curves or outlines.

.cdr (Corel Draw) This is usually* considered good art. Please save for  Version 10 or lower. All fonts must be converted to curves or outlines.

.eps (Encapsulated Post Script) This is usually* considered good art. An .eps is a universal vector art format.  One exception, if you or your printer are Mac-based, please have the .eps extension on the end of the file to ensure that it can be opened on a PC.

*Why "usually?" Because the below formats can be embedded in the above files and saved as the above files, but the "bad" art is still in the file and it would need to be redrawn. Your files have to be reviewed to see if your art is useable or if it needs to be redrawn.

Art that needs to be redrawn
.jpeg, tiffs, Word documents, PowerPoint, and bitmaps all need to be redrawn. If you have your art in these formats, please send us a copy. We will
provide a quote for conversion to Camera Ready.  If you wish to speak to our designer, please call CNS, Inc., 708.922.0050

.PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files usually have to be redrawn unless they were originally created as camera ready art and saved in a format that we can extract the vector art.
